Beyond the Border provides a unique, specialized approach to every dog that passes through our programs. Each dog is treated as an individual. From puppy raising to advanced training and behavior modifications, there are no "one size fits all" magic hack that we apply to everyone. Every program is, to a degree, customized and tailored to your dog.
Our Methodology
Beyond The Border identifies as Reward-Based Balanced, believing that all dogs should be approached as individuals, and what works for one will not work for another. All dogs benefit from clear communication and structure, which we believe clear "yes" and "no" training provides. We also believe that we do not get to choose what the dog finds reinforcing or aversive- the dog does. We look at the whole picture, not just a corner. This entire view approach helps provide longer-lasting results and better, fuller communication between dog and owner.
About the Trainer
The passion for these four-legged creatures began early for trainer Mary Fisher. From reading dog encyclopedias and breed-specific standards as a child to starting her first apprenticeship in 2019, this trainer's love of dogs is deeply rooted. At this point, dogs are a way of life for Mary, and when she's not out with her beloved client dogs, you can find her enjoying the company of her dogs on a competitive field or simply in the woods. Mary participates in a variety of dog sports, including dog showing, agility, dock diving, herding, and trick dog.
